Release Notes - Credit Card Surcharge Receipt Line Item

This article announces an update to how credit card surcharges appear on customer receipts.

πŸš€ What's Launching?

We've updated how credit card surcharges are displayed on customer receipts. When a customer pays via credit card on an eligible transaction, the surcharge amount now appears as its own separate line item on the receipt β€” clearly distinguished from the transaction subtotal and total. This gives customers a transparent breakdown of what they're being charged and supports merchant compliance with surcharge disclosure requirements.

The change applies automatically across the ServiceBridge web and mobile applications for any account already enabled for credit card surcharging β€” no configuration changes are required.

βœ… What You Can Do

β€’ See the credit card surcharge displayed as a separate, clearly labeled line item on every customer receipt

β€’ Provide customers with a transparent view of the surcharge amount alongside their subtotal and total

β€’ Reduce customer questions and disputes by showing exactly what the surcharge fee is

β€’ Better support compliance with state-level surcharge disclosure requirements (e.g., Colorado, California)

β€’ Continue to rely on automatic surcharge calculation β€” no changes to your existing setup or workflow

πŸ“Œ A Few Things to Know

β€’ Automatic for enabled accounts: If your account is already integrated with a CardConnect/Fiserv surcharge account, the new line-item display is applied automatically β€” no action required.

β€’ Eligibility unchanged: The surcharge is still only applied to eligible credit card transactions. Card type and ZIP code validation rules remain the same.

β€’ Applies to both web and mobile: The separate line item appears on receipts generated from both the ServiceBridge web application and mobile app.

β€’ Disclosure still required: Merchants are still responsible for providing customer-facing disclosure of the surcharge per state law. We recommend keeping the disclosure language on your Estimates, Work Orders, and Invoices.

β€’ Not enabled for surcharging yet? See Using the Credit Card Surcharge Feature for setup instructions.
