Enabling Credit Card Surcharge
ServiceBridge clients must upgrade their existing CardConnect/Fiserv account to enable surcharging. Do this by visiting Settings>Accounting>Payments and, under Surcharges, click the link in Click here to apply.
This will open an email to the ServiceBridge Support team requesting to be enabled for a Surcharge Account.

Once integrated with a surcharge account, this will be indicated in Settings>Accounting>Payments:

Additional Notes
Your existing payment history with CardConnect/Fiserv will remain intact.
Merchants will need to sign an addendum before the switch.
No change is required for current card readers (VP3300 supports surcharging).
Using the Feature
Once integrated with a surcharge account, ServiceBridge web and mobile applications will automatically apply the surcharge to eligible transactions.
Note: You are advised to add disclosure notice to your Estimates, Work Orders and Invoices or any other customer-facing documents. For example, you could add a notice to the Notes section, Terms of Service, etc. advising that a credit card surcharge will be applied.
For merchants in some states, such as New York State, a business must advertise the maximum price upfront. To do this enable the following setting in Settings>Accounting.

Legal and Operational Compliance
Card type and ZIP Code are validated through our payment partner to ensure compliance.
Certain U.S. states and territories prohibit surcharges, including Connecticut, Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, and Armed Forces locations (AF, AE, AP, AA).
Specific legal requirements exist for merchants in New York and Colorado:
New York: Merchants must display the total price, including the surcharge, in dollars and cents.
Colorado: Merchants must disclose the surcharge policy per state law.
New York Example: The price including the Credit Card surcharge is printed to ensure full transparency and maximum compliance with state laws:

State and Territory Restrictions:
Merchants in prohibited states/territories cannot enable surcharging. This also applies to card-not-present transactions for customers in these locations.
Legal Requirements:
New York State: The total price displayed in Estimates, Work Orders, and Invoices must include the surcharge, even if the customer ends up paying by another means. In those cases, the surcharge will not be applied.
Colorado: Merchants must comply with disclosure requirements about the surcharge.
California: Merchants must comply with disclosure requirements about the surcharge.
All other states: As a merchant, you are responsible for ensuring you comply with state legal requirements.
Disclosure Notices
As a merchant, you’re required to notify all customers that this fee will be applied if they pay by credit card.
Some states have specific requirements about how disclosure notices are worded. It is your responsibility to ensure you comply with the requirements in your state.
Surcharge Validation:
ZIP Code and card type validation may result in some transactions being excluded from surcharging, depending on the customer’s location and state laws.
No disabling of surcharge:
Once you sign up for a surcharging account, surcharge pass-through cannot be disabled.
